Contemporary: This can be thought of as the exploration of the total potential of the body to move. The techniques are derived from both classical and modern forms of dance, but are not as bound to standards and styles, and the dance can be thought of as more of a personal vision using many other disciplines for inspiration. It is also thought of as a mix between Jazz and Ballet, but can bring in Modern dance as well. As it can be a less technical form of dance, it can be a good style for beginners as it uses a wide range of movement.
Modern Dance: Also known as Lyrical Dance, is expressive, but also contemporary. There can be a range of movements from soft through to angular and more abstract. It can also be thought of as slow and expressive Jazz.
Ballet is considered to be one of the most influential forms of dance, and is recognised worldwide for its discipline and beauty. It provides a very strong technique base that helps students with other genres of dance style. We will challenge the students, and help them to build healthy bodies as well as boost their confidence. Our classes will focus on posture, placement and quality, as well as nurturing and encouraging the students.
Tap is one of the most rhythmic of the dance forms and styles, and is perfect for those people who love a bit of rhythm. We will get your feet tapping, and you’ll want to keep going wherever you are! The classes will be fun, dynamic, and will bring out the best in your children, as well as helping them to develop their own personalities both as dancers and as young people.
Jazz dancing is very upbeat, and probably the most diverse form of Dance as it ranges from the old, musical styles of Jazz right through to more modern styles that we all see on the latest music videos. There are many benefits that your child will gain from Jazz, and these include flexibility, strength co-ordination & style. We encourage the children to have fun, but also to work hard and support each other. The classes are energetic, and allow the child to bring their own style to the movement.
